Terms of Service

1. Agreement

By accessing or using Synapse ("the Service"), operated at synapsehabits.com, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of service

Synapse is a web-based habit-tracking application designed for autistic adults. The Service provides tools for creating, tracking, and reflecting on habits, informed by autism research. Synapse is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

3. Accounts

• You must provide a valid email address to create an account.
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
• You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service.
• One person per account. Accounts are not transferable.

4. Free and paid plans

Synapse offers a free tier and a paid Premium tier. Details of what each tier includes are described on our Pricing page.

• Free tier — available at no cost with limited features.
• Premium tier — requires a recurring subscription processed by Stripe. You can cancel at any time; access continues until the end of your billing period.
• We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice. Existing subscribers will be notified before any price change takes effect.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service.
• Interfere with the Service's infrastructure or other users' use of the Service.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service.
• Scrape, crawl, or otherwise automatically collect data from the Service.

6. Your data

You retain ownership of the content you create in Synapse (habits, notes, etc.). By using the Service, you grant us a limited licence to store, process, and display your data solely to provide the Service. See our Privacy Policy for details on how we handle your data.

7. Intellectual property

The Synapse name, logo, design, and code are owned by us. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the Service without written permission.

8. Availability and changes

• We aim to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may perform maintenance or updates that temporarily affect availability.
• We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. We will provide reasonable notice for significant changes.

9. Limitation of liability

Synapse is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Termination

You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms. Upon termination, your data will be handled as described in our Privacy Policy.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of England and Wales.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
