1. Who we are

Synapse ("we", "us", "our") operates the web application at synapsehabits.com. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about the data we collect.

2. What data we collect

We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:

  • Account information — email address and authentication credentials when you create an account.
  • Habit data — the habits you create, track, and any notes you add. This is the core of the service.
  • Usage data — anonymous analytics (page views, feature usage) to help us improve the product. We use Vercel Analytics, which does not use cookies or track individuals.
  • Waitlist information — if you join our waitlist, we collect your email address to notify you when we launch.

3. What we do not collect

  • We do not collect health or diagnostic information.
  • We do not sell or share your data with advertisers.
  • We do not use tracking cookies or third-party ad networks.
  • We do not build behavioural profiles for marketing purposes.

4. How we use your data

  • To provide and maintain the Synapse service.
  • To send you service-related communications (e.g. password resets).
  • To improve the product based on aggregate, anonymised usage patterns.
  • To process payments if you subscribe to a paid plan (via Stripe).

5. Data storage and security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase (hosted on AWS). All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. We follow industry-standard security practices and regularly review our infrastructure.

6. Third-party services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Supabase — authentication and database hosting.
  • Stripe — payment processing. Stripe handles all payment data directly; we never store your card details.
  • Vercel — application hosting and privacy-friendly analytics.
  • Buttondown — waitlist and email communications.

7. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your account and all associated data.
  • Export your habit data in a standard format.
  • Withdraw consent for optional communications at any time.

8. Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove all your personal data within 30 days. Anonymous, aggregated analytics data may be retained indefinitely.

9. Children

Synapse is designed for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under the age of 16. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a minor, please contact us so we can delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or an in-app notice. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision.
